One-on-one training for a lovable, well-behaved dog
Whether you prefer private dog training sessions for the individual attention, because your dog isn’t ready to learn in a group setting, or because you want to tackle specific behavior issues in a private setting, we are here to help you.
Each private session is designed to meet your individual goals. We’ll spend the hour focused on what you want to teach and what problems you want solved. We’ll then give you a personalized homework plan that works for you and your dog.
Sessions last one hour and can be held at your home or in our training school in Ramsey, New Jersey. We service the entire Bergen County area.
- In-school sessions: $100 per hour

Beyond Basic Obedience
For a more structured private training experience, we offer the following programs:
Competitive Obedience: We can tailor private obedience lessons to help you gain a CD, an OTCh, or a Rally title for your dog.
Baby Makes Four: We offer pre-baby and post-baby consultations, providing you with information and exercises to help your canine companion feel more comfortable with the changes that come with having a baby. This work can help prevent future issues that could arise without guidance, awareness, and training.
Dog Finder: Need help finding a dog best matched for your family? With over 25 years of experience in animal placement at shelters and with rescue groups, we have the tools and experience to find the dog or puppy that’s right for you — from a shelter or a breeder. Services include interviewing you (and your family), traveling to pick out the dog, and performing an evaluation. Rates range due to traveling distance, so please call for further information.
Aggression Management: Utilizing the principles of behavioral science, we’ll work towards controlling and hopefully reducing your dog’s aggressive tendencies. At the same time we will help you create an environment to support the work you will be doing with your dog. You’ll learn about canine body language so you’ll be able to better read your dog’s signals preceding reactive behavior, the right kind of equipment to help manage your dog’s aggression, and behaviors to teach your dog how to defer to you instead of react. We can address the following behaviors:
- leash lunging
- aggression towards people or other dogs
- food aggression (resource guarding)
- possession aggression
- territorial aggression
- body-handling issues
